Accucutter® has offered it own manual guillotine bench shears for ten years. They are the 3001 series for cutting lightweight metals and plastics and the heavy duty 4001 series for cutting thicker materials as well as lightweight materials. The details of the manual versions are available on this web site at Model 3001 and Model 4001. Now, the 3001 & 4001 series have been enhanced with the addition of air power. An air cylinder(s) has been added to the top of the shear that drives the upper blade directly. The features of the manual shears are incorporated into the air powered versions with the exception of the “Flip-Up Hold-Down”. It is replaced by a fixed clear plastic front guard with a restricted opening. The cutting edges of the blades are visible through the guard. The front guard and a similar one in the rear cover the moving parts of the shear except the rear stop/drop off gage. The shears are operated by a foot control, and the material is fed using two hands. Both the 3001 & 4001 air shears are based on the robust frame of the heavy duty 4001 and are identical except for the way the blades are mounted and the way the shears cut. The 3001 top blade is mounted vertically and the bottom blade is mounted horizontally. The shear only cuts from the top. This method of mounting the blades permits a "kiss" fit of the blades and is superior for cutting plastics and thinner materials like foils. The 4001 top and bottom blades are mounted vertically. The shear cuts from both the top and the bottom like a commercial floor shear. This method of mounting the blades requires a gap between the blades and is superior for cutting metals. For identification purposes the 3001 series all have silver end plates, and the 4001 series all have yellow end plates. The 3001 series is available in 13" and the new 25" shown above. The construction of the shears is the same except a second air cylinder and an air regulator have been added to the 25" shear. The second air cylinder was added because of the greater width of the 25" shear and provides a smooth flow of power over the entire cutting distance. The air regular permits adjustment of the force used to the material being cut so that no more force is used than is required for the particular material.
The standard rear stop/drop off gage is shown above. It is used on all of the manual and air powered guillotine shears with the exception of the new 25" shear. The standard stop slides on two rods and is locked in position by tightening two pinch blocks. The new stop used on the 25" shear has a unique design that combines fast threading nuts with pinch block locking devices. The combination provides rapid, accurate adjustments that will stay in position. A picture of the new stop is below.
The 4001 series is available in two sizes; 7" and 13". It is also available in standard and heavy duty models. The air models are rated for .040" aluminum. The air powered shears include the foot control and air hoses between the air cylinder and foot control. The shears do not include a stand, air regulator, air filter, air supply, connecting hoses, or other hardware. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to provide these items as well as a dependable air supply that is both clean and dry. NOTE: The safety shields have been removed from the shears for photographic purposes. They are installed on the shears before they are shipped to the customer. Shear Models:
